If you are in search for a great lip color that wont break the bank, try Revlon color burst lip butter. I will be honest, Revlon is not one of my all time favorite brands, but when I got my hands on one of these lipsticks, I could not believe the pay off! Buttery soft lips, super pigmented and creamy texture! The best part is that it leaves a great stain on the lips way after you apply it. At $7.49 a pop you cant go wrong!

Ladies, I have to tell you about a product which I am sure many of you have heard of, but if you have not tried it before please do not wait another minute! It is by Too Faced and it is called “Primed and Poreless.” It is the BEST face primer I have ever used in my life! It is seriously one-of-a-kind, you can wear it under bronzers and foundations or alone to achieve the look of flawless skin. This is no joke, as every time I use it my pores vanish and my skin is silky smooth. Primed and Poreless creates the perfect canvas for makeup to be blended into the skin seamlessly, making your skin appear brighter and more youthful. Not only that but my makeup seriously does not budge all day long. What is even better is that they also have a powder formulation which is perfect for completing your makeup look and getting rid of shine. It comes in a nude formulation which is the original, as well as the powder which is translucent and most recently they have come out with the tinted version adding SPF 20 to protect the skin from the sun’s rays. What more could you ask for? Do your skin a favor and go out and grab one, you will thank me for it later! Priced at $30.00
Here are a few extras that I took from the box:
- Mulberry Extract & Arctostaphylos UVA URSI: Protect, brighten and lighten skin for a renewed freshness and soothing effect.
- Retinyl Palmitate & Cyclodextrin with CAVAMAX Retinol: Restores moisture, elasticity and suppleness with a powerful combination of anti-wrinkle, youth enhancing, skincare ingredients.
- Camellia Oil & Vitamin A: Essence of the white tea plant and the free radical fighting vitamins are nature’s most powerful antioxidants. Skin looks firmer, brighter and more resilient, even up close.
There is something about Chanel that exudes class, sophistication and excellence. Chanel for me has always been a luxury, especially in the cosmetics department. My first encounter with Chanel was when I was eleven and my mom had a friend who worked in the industry. One day as we were over the house she brought down a slim black case with the famous logo printed in white on the cover. When I opened up the compact it was a perfectly pressed powder in an almost opaque neutral color. I am not even sure if it matched my skin tone because there was certainly no reason for an eleven year old to be wearing pressed powder on a daily basis. Whenever I could I would sneak into a bathroom and apply the silky soft powder over my face and thus began my obsession. To this day it is still a treat for me to walk up to the Chanel counter at the department store and admire the perfect packaging and colors and every now and then splurge on a little piece of luxury for myself.
Chanel never seems to disappoint, from the fragrance, to the texture and feel of the products, the colors that always seem to enhance the skin tone and even the way the product fits in your hand. The latest obsession of mine is their new liquid foundation, “Perfection Lumiere” ($55.00) This foundation is amazing; it melts into the skin and leaves it looking like a flawless canvas. The smell is incredible, and it has such a soft, smooth texture on the skin. It has a pump that dispenses the product onto your hands and it seems to pump out the perfect amount of product to cover the entire face. When applied with a foundation brush, it smoothes out all imperfections and discolorations. This foundation stands out more than others mainly because of the smell, but also the wear ability of the product. It lasts all day without any build up or greasiness. The product really does not budge until you wash it off at the end of your day and that is something to look for in a product, as an everyday consumer and as an artist.
Fall season is filled with bright bold lip colors such as, reds, deep plums and russets, but when you want to turn it down a notch, nude lips are a trend that never goes out of style. If you want to exaggerate the eye area with a deep smokey eye, then nude lips is the perfect compliment to go alongside it. Most nude lip colors are compiled of many different pigments that create the perfect color. Orange red, warm brown, white, black, orange stain and ochre are just a few of the pigments you can find in these lipsticks which makes it a universal shade for most women. At the same time it also makes it a little bit trickier to really nail the exact shade that suits you. I have three personal favorites that fit perfectly with most skin tones and they are as listed:
1- Kat Von D in “Cathedral” $18.00
2- Three Custom Color “Nude Attitude” $21.50.
3- NYX lacquer pots “Night in Manhattan” $5.50
If you want a more pumped up nude lip with TONS of sparkle, there is of course a personal favorite gloss from Too Faced called “Mermaid” ($16.20) and its a nude gloss with green, yellow and pink iridescent sparkles.

As a makeup artist specializing primarily in weddings, I often get a lot of “how-to” questions. Since I am not fully equipped yet to give actual tutorials I have compiled some photos to walk you through some quick ways to make yourself look beautiful when you don’t have a professional at hand.
Below is my beautiful Brianna who I will be using as a model for this and future how-to’s:
Step 1: I primed Brianna’s face with Too faced Primed and Poreless powder ($28.00) This is by far one of the BEST products to use to not only prep the skin, but to prevent it from shininess and other weather ailments, I swear by it!
Step 2: Since she naturally has great skin I used a light weight tinted moisturizer on her, rather than a full coverage foundation and spot checked her skin with concealer. This was just to give her some basic coverage and to create a fresh canvas for best results. I used Jouer luminizing moisture tint in pearl, which also gives the skin a light sheen ($38.00) and for concealer I used Three Custom Color Concealer #3 ($22.50) under the eyes and around the nose. I also prepped her eyelids with L’oreal Studio Secrets magic perfecting base ($12.99).
Step 3: For the eyes, I started with a light champaigne color on the entire lid, from lash line to the brow. My all time favorite is a mixture of two colors in the Victorias Secret Quad called Mysterious ($18.00). After that I applied another Victoria’s Secret color called Spin ($12) to the outer corners of the eye and blended it upward into the crease. I find that if you blend the darker color into an arrow shape from the outer corner into the crease it will look very natural. The best brush to achieve a perfect blended eye color with is MAC’s blending brush #217.
Step 4: From there I applied a cake eye liner Physicians Formula custom eye enhancing gel liner for blue eyes ($10.95) the reason I used this for someone with brown eyes was because it has very light blue sparkles in it and it really brought out the light flecks within her eyes. I applied the liner from the inner corner all the way to the outer corner and extended it so that it went as far as her eyebrow to give her eyes a sexy smokey look. Applying a cake liner with a brush is more manageable than liquid because you have more control over how dark or light the liner is and if you prefer it smudged out or not. Plus, it gives it a softer look rather than a harsh line across the lid. I added two coats of MAC’s Naughty and Nice mascara ($18.00) and curled the lashes to finish her eyes.
Step 4: I then added a highlighter to her temples all the way down to her cheeks, using Too Faced Pink Leopard bronzer ($29.00) and then added a cream blush to her cheeks, Three Custom Color’s Morning After cream to powder blush ($22.50). Finally, I finished her off with a translucent powder over her entire face to keep away shine and set the makeup and gave her a sheer pink lipstick. I used Three Custom Color, Cool Sunrise ($21.50) which is a frosty pink that goes on with medium coverage.
There you have it! I think she looks beautiful and polished and this was such an easy application that anyone can do it at home! 🙂
